Day Fishing Method 34: Tab
Esobio
Net: | Pahas (#3a) |
Large basket called Machiyeru.
At the northwestern side of the island the people have built about 50 Hahuchurtab.
Hahuchurtab are rock piles up to 40 feet across and 4 feet high built in the big holes in this part of the reef. Hahuchurtab are left alone for two years after they are built. Then the people surround them with nets and remove the rocks. After this they repeat it once every year.
The best time to do it is in the Spring, when you have a very low tide at noon. There should be about 3 feet of water around the rock pile.
It is very bad to watch someone else doing this.
You catch any kind of reef fish.
