Sarang

Sarang (whose name is sometimes spelled Serang) was a wonderful friend to Mary and James and me when we stayed in Araki in 1972. She was married to Tobias Andrew at that time and living with his family. Later, after Tobias died, she was married to Andy Kyoshi Nikolas. Sarang and Tobias and their son Andrew had a lot of fun with Mary and James and me in Araki. And when I returned in the 1990s we always had a good laugh about our old times. She was one of the Palauan women who always seemed very comfortable living with people from the small islands. I will always remember her as someone who was very kind and brave and always cheerful.
